Are you a mental-health provider?
No. We are not a mental-health provider and cannot give referrals or mental-health advice.
Why is it so hard to find therapists in New York who accept insurance?
Insurance reimbursement rates are low and administrative demands are high. The billing process reduces their effective hourly income. Many therefore choose to remain out-of-network, requiring clients to pay upfront or out of pocket, and submit superbills for potential reimbursement.
Can you help me find the right doctor or therapist?
Not yet. We have no affiliation with mental-health providers and cannot help you find care. We hope to offer this service in the future.
How are funds distributed?
We pay your psychologist (PhD), psychiatrist (MD), or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) directly for the full cost or copay of your sessions—on an individual basis—for one year.
If you use a licensed online platform, we will reimburse you for each session once you send us the receipt. Some platforms offer giftable memberships, which is also an option. We know this isn’t perfect and are working toward a better long-term system.
How does the application process work?
Submit a request through our online artist-assistance form. We’ll review it and be in touch. Please don’t be discouraged if we can’t assist immediately.
Do you cover prescription medication costs?
Not yet. We hope to provide this type of support in the future. In the meantime, speak with your pharmacist about discount programs.
Who can apply for assistance?
Any working artist, over the age of 18, in the five boroughs, with or without insurance—including Medicaid and Medicare.
What is your definition of an artist?
Anyone with an artistic practice—including anyone who plays basketball at a non-professional level.
Am I guaranteed assistance?
Unfortunately, no. Our goal is to support individuals sustainably—not offer aid that may suddenly end. We maintain a waitlist and review each case as funding allows.
Is my donation tax deducible?
The Another Day Foundation Inc. has applied for 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. Donations may become deductible retroactively once approved. We will email you an acknowledgment letter.
